Master Sergeant (Retired) J.H. Martin served in the United States Army for more than 25 years. His first 5 years of his military career started with the famed 82nd Airborne division out of Fort Bragg, NC. MSG (R) Martin finished his last 20 years with Special Forces serving with numerous units, deployments, and specialized training contributing to the overall successes through varying leadership roles.
Upon graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant, MSG (R) Martin served with the 10th Special Forces Group out of Fort Carson Colorado deploying numerous times to the CENTCOM and EUCOM area of responsibilities.
After serving on the operational side of the Special Forces Regiment, MSG (R) Martin was assigned to serve as an instructor with the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Company at Fort Bragg, NC teaching not only to future Special Forces Medical Sergeants but to future Special Operations Force medics serving in Ranger battalions, the Navy SEALs and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, Civil Affairs, and the infamous 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
He also continued to support the Special Forces Regiment working as the Senior Special Forces Medical Supervisor and adviser at the 1st Special Warfare Training Group which was responsible for overseeing all training within the Special Forces and Special Operations Qualification courses.
MSG (R) Martin also served with the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC to assisting in the preparation of deployments in support of their mission, lines of effort, and intent.
He eventually served as the Theater Special Operations Command Africa Senior Enlisted Medical Adviser overseeing the medical support for all Special Forces and Special Operations units deployed to the continent. MSG (R) Martin finally assigned back to his original Special Forces unit, 10th SFG (A), and retired in February 2019.
