Jacob Johnson

Jacob Johnson

2IC of FSR Group

Jacob’s love of firearms began at a young age.  He learned how to shoot from his grandpa, who was a Navy Sea Bee and a veteran of WWII and Korea.  As a native of Arizona, Jacob spent numerous weekends and summers hunting, fishing, and hiking in the desert and forests in the central and northern parts of the state.

Much of Jacob’s training and experience comes from the US Army.  He enlisted in the Army in 2000. For the first half of his Army career, Jacob served with the 1st Corps Support Command, the 1st Infantry Division, and the 82nd Airborne Division.  In 2011, Jacob entered training for Special Forces.  Jacob successfully completed Special Forces training in 2013, earned his Green Beret, and served as a Special Forces Engineer for the remainder of his career in the Army.  He served as a member of Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 5231 in 5th Special Forces Group and as an instructor for the Advanced Special Operations Techniques Course at Fort Bragg.  While serving on an ODA, Jacob trained, advised, and supervised US and partner nation personnel in the use of firearms, tactics, demolitions, security operations, apprehension and handling of detainees, base defense, intelligence gathering, and lifesaving first aid. Jacob’s combat deployments include Iraq; 2004-2005, 2006-2007, and 2014, and Lebanon in 2016.  He also participated in humanitarian, peacekeeping, and training deployments to Kosovo, Egypt, and Haiti.

After retiring from the Army in 2020, Jacob went on to become a Law Enforcement Park Ranger with the National Parks Service.  He worked one season at Rocky Mountain National Park, CO and specialized in backcountry and horseback patrols, hunter investigations and education, informational interviews, search and rescue, and emergency medical response.  Jacob is currently the Emergency Manager for the City of Scottsdale, AZ.

Jacob’s formal education includes a bachelor's degree in Public Service and Public Policy with a focus on Emergency Management and Homeland Security from Arizona State University and associate degree in Military Leadership from Rio Salado College.  He also graduated from the Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Course (Park Ranger Training Program) at Northern Arizona University and earned Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification in 2021.
